Health, Demographic Change and Wellbeing supports the active and healthy ageing of ageing population in the long term and promotes new, safe and healthy interferences. In this purpose, by supporting the multidisciplinary scientific research in life sciences and health area, it will empower process of diagnostic and treatment, develop an ICT based solutions to ageing population and make more effective health care services. 

Building on the principle of openness – open science, open innovation and open to the world the societal challenge 1 on 'Health, Demographic Change and Wellbeing' (SC1) aims to deliver solutions for a better health for all by:

• Moving towards the effective integration of personalised medicine approaches into healthcare services and systems to the benefit of patients and citizens
• Fighting infectious diseases and the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance
• Addressing the needs of the most vulnerable groups and the global increase of chronic diseases
• Decoding the role of environment – including climate change and air quality – on health and developing mitigating measures
• Exploring the digital potential for health innovation and healthcare, including the building of a 'European health research and innovation cloud'
• Stimulating innovation in the European healthcare domain and industry by exploring the application of advanced technologies, improve the health of the workforce and promote regulatory science

The European Comission has identified policies, strategy and funding in health research and innovation as well as key areas for research and innovation in health.

Health, Demographic Change and Wellbeing is composed of 3 main calls for proposals:

• Digital Transformation in Health and Care
• Trusted Digital Solutions and Cybersecurity in Health and Care
