Materials and Manufacturing Technologies

LEIT - NMBP stands for ‘Leadership in enabling and industrial technologies – Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology and Advanced Manufacturing and Processing'

The aim of NMBP area is to produce information to increase the competitiveness of the European industry and to provide a transition from resource-intensive industry to knowledge-intensive industry. This aim will also provide benefit to the evaluation of the study results, which have been brought to certain stages as patents in previous R&D studies, as commercial products. For this reason, the main aim of ‘Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology and Advanced Manufacturing and Processing' has been determined as the elimination of the gap between the information and commercialization resulting from R&D activities.

Within the scope of NMBP, priority issues such as

  • Nanotechnology and materials
  • Factories of the Future
  • Energy Efficient Buildings
  • Sustainable Process Industries

are supported.

The NMBP responds to problems and needs that have not changed fundamentally in the last few years, namely the need for research, innovation and industrial investments in key enabling technologies. Recent developments such as the 'fourth industrial revolution', the increased attention to the potential of digital technologies for manufacturing and in industrial applications, and the shift to services have added weight to the relevance of the programme.

 Total Budget: 3.5 Billion Euros
